I forgot go mention my chars were lvl 52 or 53 with best gear.
The only damage dealer was the ninja, while the 3 others were casting Curtain, Bless and Magic barrier, Heal All, and naturally High tension on the ninja. That s a rather safe technique I guess, because noone died in the party.

And that only took 20 turns lol? Usually the safe 1 dd strat on rpgs takes ages and is an mp killer/waster lol. Well done

I just beat the game with ninja-ninja-sage-sage lvl 45 all. I didn't count how many turns it took but it was a pretty long time. Heal-all ftw...

To answer the various questions:
The Ninja IS the best tank. Here are the stats from level 99:
Ninja: Str=332 Guard=224 Agility=316 HP=801 MP=0.
Fencer: Str=245 Guard=173 Agility=288 HP=592 MP=386.
Holy Knight: Str=289 Guard=204 Agility=184 HP=697 MP=295.
Sage: Str=144 Guard=142 Agility=230 HP=522 MP=617.
Warrior: Same as Holy Knight, except no MP.
Samurai: Same as Fencer, except no MP.
As you can see, the Ninja has the highest guard to reduce physical damage and the highest agility to dodge attacks.
Spells for each:
Fencer: Missing the Cure, Full-Revive, Escape, Heal-All, and Bless-Barrier spells.
Holy Knight: Missing all of the Fire, Blizzard and Quake spells and Ultima.
Sage: All of the spells.
If any class could wear any armor (i.e. if the Tokugawa Armor, Masamune, and Miracle Robe were universal), my team would depend on who I was fighting. Against the Demon Lord, I would probably choose four Holy Knights. Against Quetzalcoatl, who I want to beat in as few turns as possible, I would level to 99 and choose three Ninja and either a Holy Knight or Sage.

I was going to have two sages and two ninjas but after reading that the holy knight will be better for the extra hp and guard. The absence of those attack spells I guess is not an issue since it will be casting buffs.
I decided on this then...
(Ninja) Damage Dealer
(Ninja) Damage Dealer
(Holy Knight) Buffer/Backup Healer
(Sage) Healer
Does it matter which characters are which? I was going to have the two guys as ninjas

Oh yeah anyone agree the music composer for these games is good lol?
If you're interested I have arranged all the music from all three games onto piano. Email me if interested...harmonymeister@msn.com
Ps...that reminds me but in this game does anyone else have silence in the castles? I'm thinking its a bug on HTC wildfire because there are other sound bugs

How do I get to the town on the southwest of the southwest continent?
116. gupus Mar. 25. 2012 02:55
I can't seem to find the cell key and I don't know what to do with the bomb.
117. Tom Barrister Mar. 25. 2012 02:32
The cell key is in the cave east of Kata (the town in the mountains on the southwest continent).
If you talked to the sage and guard at the Shrine where you got the Secret Letter, you'd know that you're supposed to blow up a boulder. There's a single boulder blocking the west fork of the river. If you go around to the north end of that boulder and use the Bomb, the boulder and two squares of dirt south of it will disappear, allowing you to sail past it and exit to the desert west. You'll find Kata and be able to continue the game.

nezkeys: gender doesn't matter as far as stats are concerned. Also, the Magician attack spells (the ones the Holy Knight doesn't have) fail often against the bosses and stronger enemies. This is what I meant by Magicians being all but useless in the later part of the game, and why Fencers (who have the Magician attacks but are missing key Monk spells) aren't that great against the bosses, either.
