That took me a while to figure out. When you go north from the stairs and get to the maze that seems to keep repeating, go West, back East, back West, then go around to the top and take the northmost/top East exit. In the next room, there will be two North exits. Take the right/eastmost one. That will lead you to stairs that will take you down to the Blue Rex and the chest with the compass that's behind it.

TIP: Once you've upgraded a member to an advanced job, you can switch that member to a different advanced job with a regular Work Permit. In the bonus game (after you defeat the Demon Lord), you can buy Work Permits in the shop in the bonus cave. In the game, I found 7 regular Work Permits.

I'm not an admin or employee of the company that makes this game.

The game only costs $3.99, and it doesn't have a huge following like the Dragon Warrior or Final Fantasy series. They can't well-afford to hire programmers and completely rework the game every time.

Hey tom I just read your walkthrough. I saw that you said magicians and their spells are useless. May I say that in random battles fighting like 6 enemies who use breath attacks can easily kill you. having minu blizzard is really effective. Also when I first met raging elephant it was against two of them. Without the fire or thunder spell these battles are tough. I may swap my warrior for another samurai but having a character that can attack all enemies at once (magician) is invaluable in my opinion. There is no way I could have won certain random battles with just 3 melee fighters. With enough herbs I'd be tempted to switch out the monk for another samurai since all I do is heal or guard with it.

Also what do you think of using warrior as the healer in the party. It will be able to take more damage. Also once monk uses its mp and items all it can do is guard because they are weak and can't take a hit either. I'd only do this swap though if I had items that healed all, and items that revived, and I had 99 of each, which would be pretty hard to maintain in my opinion

There's no one perfect way. Do whatever works for you.

Barrister .... the walkthroughs should come down. I sent you an email at GameFAQs saying why. Your call.
