Lamia is the demon mermaid in the cave by Devil Town. I cannot defeat her. I have everything but excalibur. I keep thinking I need it to defeat her. Any ideas?

I can't go any further until she's beaten.

No, you don't need Excalibur, because you can't get it until after you beat the demon king. A strategey that has worked for other people in similar situations is to have Rick and Alice cast Curtain and Magic Barrier, alternating with High Tension on Guile only. That's how several people beat tough monsters.

Thanks, I'll try that.

The fastest way to level from when Alice reaches level-37 until you defeat Lamia is to go to the cave where you got the Aluminum Ore (near Mizuri town), and cast Amor All. You'll fight nothing but single Silver Bells. Of course, after you've defeated Lamia and talked to the king of St. Louis Castle, you can find Silver Bells aplenty by going to the area south of Colby town (and across the river) and walking around (you can use Amor or Scented Charms).

Here's my strategy for defeating Lamia. Your characters should be at least level 40.

Be sure that you have all the unique equipment: Hero Sword, Armor, Shield, and Helmet, Miracle Armor, Miracle Dress, Safeguard Ring. The party's equipment should be:

Guile: Hero Sword, Hero Armor, Hero Shield, Hero Helmet, Strong Ring.

Rick: Diamond Sword, Miracle Armor, Diamond Shield, Diamond Helm, Ring of Protection (or Ring of Power)

Alice: Diamond Damascus (or any weapon), Miracle Dress, Magic Aegis, Magician Hat (I didn't find any better equipment for her for shield or hat; if you know of any, let us know), Safeguard Ring.

Once you have these, go heal in Devil Town and stock 99 herbs in the bag. You'll use no magic on the way to Lamia (you should have the path memorized; if not, memorize it as you go, returning when necessary). Atk-All your way there, healing with herbs as you travel.

Since Rick doesn't have Revive-All, you'll want to give him all of the Miracle Leaves that you have.

For Lamia, turn your battle speed down to 3 or lower so you can see the messages. It's important to know when the various effects you'll be using have worn off and need to be recast. Also, write down the maximum HP of each party member. You should also be fully healed.

Save your game before talking to Lamia the second time.

If things go badly, you can use a task killer to close the game so it doesn't save and start over from your save point.

Lamia only does damage and breath attacks; I haven't seen any magic attacks. Therefore, Magic Barrier is useless.

The strategy is to keep Bless Barrier and Curtain up at all times and to have High Tension on Guile, while healing when necessary. The main healing spells used are Giga Heal (which all members should have) and Heal All.

On the first turn, have Guile cast Heal on Alice, Rick cast Bless Barrier, and Alice cast Curtain. It may seem silly to cast Heal in advance, but Guile won't be doing much damage until High Tension is applied, and advance-healing will keep the relatively-low HP Alice healthy until the various shields are up.

On round two, Guile should attack, Rick should cast High Tension on himself, and Alice should cast High Tension on Guile. Since Alice usually goes first, the spell should be active on Guile when he attacks.

On round three, Guile and Rick should attack, and Alice should either cast Heal All, or cast Giga Heal on whoever is down more than 150 HP.

Thereafter, watch the screen for messages about various effects wearing off. When effects do wear off, cast them again. Keep the party healed; it's not a sin for all three party members to use Giga-Heal on themselves in one round if needed. Eventually, you'll wear down Lamia and win the battle.

I cant find where to go. My characters are new and I dont know what to do since I came to Harbor Port Town. By the way, where the heck is the cave that NPCs keep talking about?

@herocity

The cave I'm assuming you're talking about is the aluminium ore cave, which is where the aluminium is. (Am I spelling aluminium right?) Anyway, to get there you go to the town in the desert south of Port Town. Mizuri Town. Once you get there, go south to the edge of the desert, then go east to the mountains. You should see an opening in the mountains. Go in it. You will then be in a maze, walk through it until you reach the guard. Talk to him, then go to the king of Hamilton Castle. (If you don't know where that is, post so and I'll give directions.) After you talk to the king, go back to the guard. There is no personal assistant. He'll let you in. The aluminium is in the cave. Post if you can't find it.
